possible transfers

As we near the end of the summer transfer window, we can look back at some of football's biggest names making high-profile moves to high-profile clubs - it's been anything but boring thus far.

However, the action is not over yet, as many of the beautiful game's stars are still pondering a move. And, with just hours left to go, Goal.com has arranged a comprehensive list of all of those still capable of making the headlines off the pitch.

First, in alphabetical order, we look at the more likely and well-known names, with an additional section below that includes the lesser publicised transfers.

MARCO BORRIELLO | Roma to Paris Saint-Germain
PROFILE
Age 29
Position Striker
Nationality Italian
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 8m
Other interested clubs Genoa
Chance of leaving 90%

The much-travelled striker never stays anywhere too long, and it was almost inevitable that the recent snub by Luis Enrique, who left him on the bench until the latter stages of the Europa League trip to Slovan Bartislava, would lead to a transfer battle.

With Roma itching to sell, PSG could pick him up for just €8m only months after the Giallorossi settled their €10m bill with Milan, though Genoa are also keen to prolong their interest as an alternative to Alberto Gilardino.

PARK CHU-YOUNG | Monaco to Arsenal
PROFILE
Age 26
Position Striker
Nationality South Korean
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 3m
Other interested clubs -
Chance of leaving 100%

From the moment that Monaco were consigned to Ligue 2 because of relegation last season, it was inevitable they would lose a hatful of players.

Park has been one of their star men since joining from FC Seoul in 2008 due to his all-round quality in attack. Able to hold the ball up solidly, link play well and even compete surprisingly strongly in the air, the attacker was expected to move to another French club.

Indeed, Lille had started to undertake a medical examination on the striker before finding his hotel room empty the next morning. It transpired that the South Korea captain had hopped on Eurostar to hold talks with Arsenal, whom it is virtually set in stone he will sign with. Understandably, he's already something of a hate figure in the north of France.

SEBASTIAN COATES | Nacional to Liverpool
PROFILE
Age 20
Position Defender
Nationality Uruguayan
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 8m
Other interested clubs Atletico Madrid
Chance of leaving 95%

The young defender's departure to Liverpool would make him the latest member of Uruguay's Copa America-winning squad to seek pastures new for 2011-12, and all indications suggest England will be his new destination. Coates was in the crowd on Saturday to watch his potential employers take down Bolton, and could be a star of the future in the middle of defence for the Merseyside giants.

A late bid from Atletico has not swayed Coates' intention to join compatriot and fellow Nacional old-boy Luis Suarez in Anfield, and if minor wranglings over the transfer and a work permit can be arranged he will be swapping the white of the Montevideo club for Liverpool red.

LASSANA DIARRA | Real Madrid to Roma
PROFILE
Age 26
Position Midfield
Nationality French
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 10m
Other interested clubs AC Milan
Chance of leaving 60%

Diarra had looked certain to leave earlier this summer, with a number of sides interested. But the midfielder remains at the Santiago Bernabeu and there have been few concrete offers for his signature.

One came from Tottenham, but the French international claimed last week there was nothing official with the north London outfit, who appear to have turned their attentions to Scott Parker.

With team-mate Fernando Gago’s move to Roma reportedly hitting a stumbling block, the midfielder could well be off to the Serie A side on a year-long loan, although Madrid would rather sell for upwards of €10m.

DIEGO | Wolfsburg to Atletico Madrid
PROFILE
Age 26
Position Midfield
Nationality Brazilian
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 10m
Other interested clubs Galatasaray
Chance of leaving 99%

Having been banished to the reserves at Wolfsburg, Diego is desperate to leave the club, and Felix Magath is willing to let him go for the right price.

He has already agreed to terms of a move to Atletico, but an exact transfer fee has yet to be decided. The Spaniards are reportedly willing to pay €7m for his services, but the Wolves are hoping to hold out for €10m.

ELJERO ELIA | Hamburg to Juventus
PROFILE
Age 24
Position Winger
Nationality Dutch
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 9m
Other interested clubs Galatasaray
Chance of leaving 70%

The Dutch winger has looked bright in isolated spells since moving to Hamburg, but injuries and conflicts with a number of coaches have seen much of his potential deferred. He has failed to maintain a starting role at HSV, who are said to be looking to offload him.

The Italian media are certain that he will be joining Juventus, and suggested this morning that a deal for €9m has basically been done.

DIEGO FORLAN | Atletico Madrid to Inter
PROFILE
Age 32
Position Striker
Nationality Uruguayan
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 5m
Other interested clubs -
Chance of leaving 100%

Diego Forlan claimed all summer long that he would be staying at Atletico Madrid, but it was clear that those at the Spanish side had other ideas.

The Uruguayan, superb at last summer’s World Cup as Uruguay reached the semi-finals and instrumental as the Celeste claimed the Copa America in July, was linked with teams in Turkey, Tottenham and even Diego Maradona’s Al Wasl.

But with Samuel Eto’o leaving Inter to join big-spending Russians Anzhi, he has been earmarked as a cut-price replacement for the former Barca forward and the move should be completed within hours.

KAKA | Real Madrid to AC Milan
PROFILE
Age 29
Position Midfield
Nationality Brazilian
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee -
Other interested clubs Arsenal, Inter, PSG
Chance of leaving 50%

Kaka came off the bench to score a fine goal in Real Madrid’s 6-0 win at Zaragoza on Sunday night, but the Brazilian’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu remains uncertain.

Kaka’s time at Real Madrid has been blighted by injuries and a move could suit everyone. The player himself has reiterated his desire to stay and says he wants to be a hit at Madrid, while Jose Mourinho this week claimed he was happy to have the player, but that he would be spending a lot of time on the bench.

AC Milan seem unwilling to pay more than €15m for their former star, and their best chance of capturing the Brazilian may come in a loan now, buy later deal similar to the one they agreed with Barcelona for Zlatan Ibrahimovic last year.

LUKA MODRIC | Tottenham to Chelsea
PROFILE
Age 25
Position Midfield
Nationality Croatian
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 40m
Other interested clubs Manchester United
Chance of leaving 30%

After admitting that Luka Modric had asked not to play against Manchester City on Sunday, Harry Redknapp seems to be fighting the inevitable in keeping the Croatian at White Hart Lane.

Chelsea have already seen bids of €24m, €29m and €32m for the midfielder rejected earlier in the summer and the signing of Juan Mata has reduced their need for creativity in midfield but with Roman Abramovich still keen on the 25-year-old, it is looking increasingly the case of when, and not if he makes his move.

ALVARO PEREIRA | Porto to Chelsea
PROFILE
Age 25
Position Wing-back, Midfield
Nationality Uruguayan
TRANSFER FILE
Transfer fee 30m
Other interested clubs -
Chance of leaving 80%

Alvaro Pereira played an instrumental role in Andre Villas-Boas' treble-winning squad last season, and the Portuguese coach is determined to reward him with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Equally at home at left-back or on the left side of the midfield, Pereira was left out of Porto's squad for the Uefa Super Cup in a clear sign that he is on his way out.

Porto president Pinto da Costa says he rejected Chelsea's first offer for Pereira in just 30 seconds, but it is believed that an improved bid, which stands closer to the Copa America winner's release clause, is on the way.
